The theme of World Water Day 2026 is “Where water flows, equality grows” and focuses on safe water and sanitation as human rights and critical enablers of gender equality.

Everyone has a role in protecting and conserving water. In addition to avoiding waste and using water wisely, it’s important to help keep our water clean. What you do at your home and in your community affects everyone downstream of you.

World Water Day, held annually on March 22 since 1993, is a United Nations observance focusing on the importance of freshwater.
